Governor's Baseball Dinner kicks off 2010 Spring Training season at Tropicana Field

On the eve of "Pitchers and Catchers Reporting Date," to signify the beginning of the 2010 Major League Baseball season, Governor Charlie Crist hosts the 2010 Governor's Baseball Dinner at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

Join Governor Crist, Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig and other notable Major League Baseball names, including Hall of Famers Hank Aaron, Andre Dawson and Al Kaline, the evening of Wednesday, February 17 as another Baseball season begins in the Sunshine State.  This will be the third consecutive year, Governor Crist has hosted the dinner on the outfield grass of Tropicana Field.

Ticket purchase deadline has been extended to Friday, February 12.

The 2010 Florida Grapefruit League season begins on Wednesday, March 3 with 15 teams playing in 14 different Florida locations.  The 2009 season saw over 1.5 million fans flock to games and contribute over $752 million to the Florida economy according to an economic impact survey compiled by Bonn Marketing, Inc. during the season.

 




2010 Florida Senior Games local competitions begin this week in Delray Beach and Collier County.  Three other local games competitions also begin during the month of February.
